Following a very busy 2009 when the Rotary Club of Rothesay raised over £20,000 for the benefit of local, national and international charities and worthy causes, events for 2010 are already well under way. 

The Rotary Club in association with Rothesay Joint Campus and Spirit Aid completed a sponsered walk on 21 March to raise funds for a group of Academy pupils and staff to travel to Malawi to teach in their patnership school, open a new creche and do some work in the soup kitchen sponsered by our local community. A sum of over £2000 was raised for this worthy cause.

A jazz evening was held at Rothesay Campus on 25 March as part of 'Rotary Day 2010' featuring Phil Mason and Friends and the Rothesay Academy Swing Band. An audience of over 200 jazz fans enjoyed a programme of swing and jazz when over £1250 was raised for the Haiti disaster fund and other international charities including the eradication of polio worldwide.

Rothesay Joint Campus was recently nominated for the Rotary Young Citizen Award for their outstanding commitment and contribution to local and international charities and worthy causes. A ceremony was held on 1 July 2010 when the school captain was presented with a leadership prize and a representative of the Campus, senior pupil Robyn Horseborough,  was presented with a certificate in recognition of their efforts. 

On Saturday 1st May the Rotary Club of Rothesay set up their annual Bottle Stall to coincide with the start of the 23rd Isle of Bute Jazz Festival Parade. An enthusiastic gathering of locals and visitors contributed to this colourful event when a sum of £535 was collected for Rotary Charities and other worthy causes.

The Rotary Club of Rothesay held their annual Car Boot Sale at the Public Park on 1st August. Over fifty pitches saw a variety of goods for sale with an enthusiastic crowd of several hundred snapping up bargains galore. Proceeds fromthe day just over £1000 for Rotary Charities.

During the rest of August Members will be assisting at the Bute Agricultural Show,the Bute Highland Games and will also be running a raffle at a pre games concert featuring Phil Cunningham and All Bain.

The 60th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Rothesay will be celebrated on 3rd September 2010. This will include a dinner to be held in the Marble Hall Mount Stuart House.

Many other fund raising and community events are also being organised.
